Bye Bye, Grasshopper!

I’ve been using Grasshopper since 2017 for my business line, and I’ve finally kicked them to the curb, for a number of reasons. First, they’re simply annoying to work with. Support is always hard to understand, and while I haven’t dealt with them a lot, I need to understand them when I do reach out. And of late I’ve had lots of missed calls. They’ll show up on my phone, but my phone never rings. That’s very disconcerting. I wonder how much business I’ve missed? But mostly it’s because they made me (and all their customers) go through this weird SMS verification process, threatening to cut our SMS services off if we didn’t. And that process was not free; we had to pay for each and every application. They cost me well over $100 in application fees, and I got no help at all with the process. Their app and website are very tough to navigate; I have always had a hard time figuring out which greeting to update when I am going to be OOO. Finally, I’ve moved my # to a new carrier and canceled my account, but they won’t refund the remaining part of my contract, so I now have some random 800 number for a month because they had to assign SOMEthing to my account for the remaining month.

So, I am now with Dialpad. They cost a little bit more (about $400/yr instead of about $300/yr), but their app is WAY more intuitive, and I now get Salesforce integration along with it. Their app auto-launches with Windows, and (GASP!) doesn’t insist on sending me a one-time login code every single freakin’ day to access my phone. I also get AI summaries and transcriptions of calls, SF integration, and even a meeting system that I probably won’t ever use. So far, I am way happier with Dialpad.
